Thanks for the links, onthedownlow! My wife called her this morning and daughter is unconcerned.

Whew, Speedy, glad she was okay! And, how it worked out so far. I'm still hoping you can recover the iPhone, just so the jerks won't be able to use it, whoever has it now.

Glad she wasn't harmed...but I have to admit, seeing "mugged" in the subject line, I thought this was going to be something else entirely different

Glad everything turned out OK. I once had a couple approach me in a parking lot, asking to borrow my iPhone. I declined. They way I see it, you either already have a cellphone (no matter how poor you are ...) or you walk back into the store and ask for help if desperate.

I did offer to dial the number for them but there was no answer. I shouldn't have done even that much.

They couldn't have done that, even with an unlocked/running iPhone. The Apple ID or password you entered was incorrect, or the phone was setup under a different AppleID other than the one you signed in with at iCloud.com

I assumed he meant they'd already turned the iPhone off.

That's terrible. Forget the phone. Forget the friggin phone.

I'm sorry your daughter had to go through that trauma. Poor thing. Give her all our love and gratitude that she's safe. Bless her sweet heart.
