The early days of the internet was awesome. Companies gave out freebies just for visiting their website or had EXTREME web only deals.

I got a deal from a major car rental operation - a web only deal. Car rental for two weeks, unlimited miles for $99. Great excuse to take that road trip to AZ I was planning. And... of course, they didn't have any subcompacts when I showed up - I got something two price levels higher for no add'l cost.

I know for sure it was around August 1998, because it was one of my first additions to my UNIX Netscape bookmarks at school.

I still am not forgiving them for ruining their the forum by sectioning it. Which led to its demise and now to the demise of Dealmac.

In 97 a coworker at the student newspaper gave me the info. I don't believe he is still part of this community but I am happy that he told me about it.
