Clearance MacBook Pros! (2012)
#1
Well it looks like Apple found a batch of unsold 2012 model 13" MacBook Pro's. Not a "run you fool" price as long as refurbished ones are available, but if the purchase has to be New!, they are available on the Apple Store - http://www.apple.com/shop/browse/home/sp.../clearance.

(Mostly posted as a counterpoint to the claims by some that Apple sells all discontinued models as refurbs)

Edit: dang autocorrect!!!!

Thanks Joe, but I'm spoiled by retina display now. Nothing else will do...Confusedmiley-signs006:

I would pay a nice price to be able to upgrade a 13" Pro from 1280x800 to a Retina/HiDPI diplay... Well, ok only $200-300, so it'll probably never happen.

That's why I've resorted to a $400 Toshiba Chromebook 2 remoting into a Mac or PC connected to a 1080p screen.

I like matte displays. It would be really nice if Apple made a matte retina screen.

Thanks Joe,

I must be late, only one new 13" MBP 2012 showing with just 4GB Ram and one 2015 refurb with a 128 HD. Guess it wasn't meant for me to buy anything today.

The refurbished version with the 500 GB drive (same config as the clearance model) is also available - http://www.apple.com/shop/product/FD101L...e-intel-i5 - for $270 less.

With the same one year warranty , and Applecare available.

It would be really exciting if these were 15" 2012 models. I wonder how fast those would sell out. I love mine.

I'm looking to buy one of the 2012 13" MBPs as a gift for my niece who graduates in May. My conundrum is this: Do I buy now and burn a few months of the warranty or do I wait until April/May, only to find that availability of these units may be limited or even non-existent?

They haven't been showing up as much since Christmas; I'd be tempted to buy now, and get Applecare if I was concerned about the warranty. I love mine, and have been thinking about grabbing another to replace my four year old one.
