I like the basic way the Phorum software works for this particular forum, but would be interested in contributing to a mobile friendly version. It's just so fun hanging out with you all!
Would you contribute to upgrade the forum for a better mobile experience?

I voted "other" because, well, among other things I am not in favor of hell in any form.
I would like to point out that there are a number of ways to achieve this, some I would support, some I would not. I imagine the same is true of most everyone here, whether they know it or not. I would support some code changes to the existing UI layer to make it more mobile friendly. That would include things like: - Fixing the sizing of the input box so it better scales on phones - Fixing the placement of the Preview and Post buttons (and their size) so they don't end up overlapping content - Changing how font sizes scale, at least on the main list pages None of these would have a big impact on desktop users. We could even include breakpoints so none of the changes are seen by desktop users. I would NOT be in favor of tapatalk or a dedicated mobile version. I think the Phorum code is simple enough to make mobile friendly. Previously I have passed around the idea of putting at least the theme layer in a git repo so that members who have dev skills could contribute to the code. They would also review each other's code, helping reduce load on our hosts and preventing anything nefarious.

There will be plenty of armchair quarterbacks who want to have a part in the direction of the project (if approved by our overlords), but I'd vote that whoever is willing to put up $$ or time/expertise/effort gets a seat at the table. That may leave some folks by the wayside, but design by committee is not going to be a great experience for anyone. Maybe a good way to kick this off (once we have admin approval) would be to start a new thread, possibly including a survey (survey monkey or similar) to collect preferences from MRF users. Then, whoever's heading this up gets to make decisions about what/how things get done? Though, we've got enough strong-willed folks here that I don't envy whoever takes on this project. There's no doubt that feathers would get ruffled, regardless of who is involved or what gets done (or doesn't get done). As I always like to say, in real life, "no good deed goes unpunished" :wiggle:

I wouldn't want to lose our archive of posts. Beyond that, I am open-minded. No real objections to the current form.

Well heck, I think we can almost all chip in enough to keep those brave few willing to github the phorum in beer for at least a few days.

I think it is significant that we have not heard from any of the OWC staff. Perhaps too many restrictions on what can happen to the source code.
