Nokia 3310 Relauched
#1
Definite iPhone killer

Not a bad classic phone. A tank. Now relaunch the se/30, 5 gig iPod, and Pismo, Apple!

interesting to note the parent company:

Nokia is buying the “Nokia” name back from Microsoft, and licensing that name directly to HMD Global Oy as part of plans to produce these next-generation of Android-powered Nokia handsets and tablets.

A truly bullet proof basic phone with clear sound and rock solid signal would be great. A phone for kids, or the elderly basically.

My "mother in law" can't use a smart phone because of her arthritis. But she can jab a button just fine. But she needs a smart phone to use Uber and Lyft as she doesn't drive anymore. Kinda sucks.

Racer, Siri could help in that case. My late father used to contact me asking Siri and, wel...
Worth mentioning.

My daughter STILL uses a Nokia 3589i. She loves and uses legacy stuff: phone, computer, car, etc.

True story: several years ago she dropped her Nokia on a hard floor and its screen became so dim it was almost unusable. She began to search eBay for a replacement, but over the next few days her dropped phone's screen gradually brightened again to its normal brightness. Her phone healed itself.

Hm... now THIS might be the killer app. A phone module like this - with physical buttons - coupled with a smart watch that can perform all those phone-integrated "smart" functions like ride hailing apps, reading emails, surfing...

Well, I dont know about an "iphone killer" since that graphic is almost 10 years old -- but its an interesting concept.

Will never go anywhere in the USA, but maybe somewhere with only basic commnunication? 3rd world? does that even really exist anymore?

One of my kids has a friend thats 8, parents got divorced last year and shes had an iPhone ever since then. Know several kids like that. My oldest is 12.5 and has to "slum" it with and iPhone 5. Its a travesty.

We have extra smartphones, but our choice is not to give them to our kids, since all they really need is a telephone.

I used the Nokia 8260 for years, had several until the last one broke and wife gave me an old iPhone 3. Then after about 6 months AT&T decided that I could no longer use my iPhone without a data plan as it would not work without one. But what about the last 6 months? It worked fine
