Rewind a bit here.
What is wrong with just a plastic cup and straw to teach her how to use a straw? If she doesn't have enough suction to get the liquid to her lips through the straw, snip the straw with scissors to make it shorter. Am i missing something here?

Correct. She doesn't understand and/or have enough suction to use a straw yet. That's why I need a squeezable cup, to give her a helping hand as she learns to use the straw. Snipping the straw isn't going to help, because the straw becomes too short and drops into the cup. Tried it already. There is also the concern she'll bite a short straw and accidentally swallow it before my wife or I can get it away from her.

Smaller cup? Like those tiny espresso to go cups from Starbucks. Mini bathroom mouthwash cups from dollar store? If the cup is 3 inches and the straw is 3.5 inches, it's a tiny bit of effort to move the liquid up an inch. Bendy straws help. Don't worry, she'll be fine.

I'll second these. There are probably also disposable dixie or red solo cups with lids you can use a straw with - not 100% spill proof but light and moderately reusable and no worry if you forget it somewhere. These are great for birthday parties when they get older!

Hi everyone,

I was at the local Shop & Stop this morning on my way to work to pick up a few things. Just for giggles, I stopped by in the food container aisle and lo and behold they actually had some of the Rubbermaid Juice Boxes for less than $5.00 each! First time I ever saw them in a local store. And, they had some knockoffs for nearly half the price, too. Needless to say, I grabbed two of each. When you can't find something via Google, just take a run to the local supermarket. Who'd've thunk? 'course, now that I found the knockoffs, I bet I can do a search via Google for the specific model and I bet they'll show up very quickly.
