Everything/Anything bucket software
#1
Do you like this type of software, or do you think it's way past its prime now?

There are a great number of these apps. Some of them are simple and specialized, while others are very complicated and more flexible.

- Evernote

_ Yojimbo

- DevonThink.

- and many many others...

The argument I read against them is basically that they're just wrapper programs that make use of SQLite, and the OS is a better tool to find stuff nowadays especially since Spotlight is so much better now.

Syncing can also be problematic since you're syncing a database, and not files. Some programs such as Yojimbo use a third party to provide syncing.

Does anyone use these programs now?

Evernote is primarily a cloud interface to a cloud service. At least that's how I use it.

The real attraction to me is synchronization to my iPhone, which I have on me, and my Mini, which sits at home on the desk.

I like Yojimbo when I'm starting a project; once I get a more structured approach to what I plan to write about, it becomes less useful.

I signed up for Evernote years ago and really don't use it.

I still like Evernote for owner's manuals and recipe organization on my iPad. It's not spectacular but gets the job done.
