Pictures from the last couple of days at home and a trip to the river yesterday...
I love it! I walk across the street, go down a couple of houses and enter the vacant lot that has been converted to a tiny private park (I have permission). At the back of the lot is Arcade creek... and a bunch of wood ducks - I have a colony of wood ducks living about 200 yards from my front door :-)

I just love the local oaks, but I can't ever seem to capture the beauty that I see - this is an exception. I love this shot - my favorite oak shot ever. This is the vacant lot...

This one aint bad

At the river - this is a canada goose 'mix' - I've read that geese that don't migrate tend to interbreed and there seems to be quite a bit of that around here...

First shot of my nemesis this year

An illustration of the high water mark - that's not a nest on the left = that's debris caught in the flood waters. That's about 10' higher than the current water level (which is already the highest I've seen here ).

I had a nice session with a snowy egret - first of the year...

Some geese flew by as I was shooting the egret...

Between me and those two women USED to be a service road, but the water came up and wiped it out

Now... this morning in the back yard - I've seen all kinds of birds back here including a Sharp-shinned hawk and a full grown egret. Really didn't think anything would surprise me, but this... is a surprise: a red eared slider in my back yard - WTF??

I had to grab the neighbors and tell them... they came out with their parrots... Lola is the latest arrival...

...and Coco & Genghis
