Tethering plus a $25 credit on my DIRECTV Now subscription sounds like a pretty good deal for my iPhone service
Then in effect I get DIRECTV Now for $10.

Any downside of moving from grandfathered AT&T unlimited data to new AT&T Unlimited Plus?

Only if their definition of "Unlimited" has changed from the rest of the worlds definition of "Unlimited", or morphed over the years.

I, too, am grandfathered in under a decade old plan. I don't want/need Direct TV and, figure ATT will screw me somehow so, I'm keeping my old plan for now.

Having no contract is a downside. After giving up your grandfathered plan for the new one, ATT can change the terms any time they want.

The second price increase is coming up (to $40), at which point my grandfathered plan will cost the same as the new unlimited plan. They both throttle at 22GB, so I'll make the switch. I'm probably going to dump AT&T anyway when I'm done paying off my 7 Plus. What I do wonder is if the $25 DirecTV credit will apply to the already discounted (and grandfathered) $35 DirecTV Now plan...

When I pointed out that I had a two-year contract, they said they would let me out of the contract with no early termination fee. Otherwise, to keep my Unlimited Data Plan, I'd have to pay more. ATT is hitting me with a second rate increase this month. ![]() |
