If you’re interested in attending a Thanksgiving seance, one Twitter user has filmed the creepiest bird video you’ll see today: a gang of turkeys circling clockwise around a seemingly dead cat.
It’s definitely not the first time someone’s filmed a turkey circling something: Someone caught this turkey circling a headstone in Cape Cod, Massachusetts back in 2013. But this situation certainly looks sinister.
So why the hell are they doing this?
“I can’t say I’ve heard of something like this before,” Debra Kriensky, a conservation biologist at NYC Audubon, told Gizmodo. “They’re omnivores but pretty much eat nuts and seeds and fruits, so certainly they wouldn’t be interested in eating.” She thought they were just checking out the weird new thing.
Another biologist agreed. “They’re just making sure that it’s no longer a threat,” Mark Hatfield, wildlife biologist at the National Wild Turkey Federation told Gizmodo. “It’s more of a curiosity type of thing. Turkeys are very basic.”

Get up kitty!
I encounter them from time to time. I used to be afraid of them a bit, but then I took a moment to assess their weapons. They just have that tiny little beak. Unless they fly into me, I can kick all of those Turkey's asses.

they can fly, badly, I guess it depends on what fly means. A flock of turkeys has moved into our woods, and so I see them fairly regularly. They sleep in trees, sometimes high, and that means they fly to get up there. If startled, they may take off. Walking at night, and having a flock of turkeys take off flying from the branches above your head can be surprising.

A pair of turkeys has taken up residence somewhere across the street. They like hanging out in neighboring yards, including ours, and in the street, blocking traffic. The male seems to think cars and their drivers are a problem, and gobbles at them aggressively. The postman fears to get out of his truck, thinking he will be attacked. When I stopped to pick up my mail the other day, the turkey wouldn't let me get to the mailbox. Here he is patrolling around my car, which was parked:
The grandkids were here that day and chased him off yelling and waving sticks. But he was back shortly.
Very bizarre. Wonder what's going on in those tiny brains.
My wife has named him 'Lurkey'.
