FU: Pictures from my ride (with George Lucas and Metallica tie-ins [major BW/panorama warning])
#1
So with the sun shining and at everyone's urging http://forums.macresource.com/read.php?1,2107473 I snuck out on a ride Wednesday. Well...not so much snuck out as simply hopped on my bike and pedaled out of the driveway. Headed up over Loma Alta and into Lucas Valley then up Big Rock Ridge which I haven't done in a while. Needless to say, with the rain we've had here in northern California, the hills are green.

The first several shots are on George Lucas' Big Rock Ranch property (buildings and lake are down on the lower right are his). Skywalker Ranch is a few valleys down to the right. He has granted access through his property or there is some sort of easement in place to allow people to get up to the ridge.

Most of the property you see on the far side of the valley is owned by Metallica frontman James Hetfield. Apparently metal pays.

Mt. Tamalpais is the main peak you see in the distance. San Francisco shows in a few along with the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, the east bay (hello Davester and Vision!) and Mt. Diablo way out in the distance.

Yeah, you should go back and take some shots in 4 months.

If I ever hit the lottery, that's where I'd be living. The motorcycling roads in that part of the country are spectacular too.

Great pics, and strangely familiar. There's a good chance I will be riding over Big Rock Ridge with friends tomorrow morning. However, we'll be on road bikes and probably headed out towards Tomales Bay.
