Just finished recovering another old audio recording of one of my original songs
#1
Another of my relic audio recordings unearthed, and brought back to life, somewhat.

This one was a 37 year old cassette containing a rough of an original song of mine, “The Gift”, that was never completed. “The Gift” was originally a poem, written by my brother Nick in 1981 and after reading it I thought it would make a moving musical statement if turned into a song.

The cheap, no name cassette we usually used for making work copies, was extremely noisy and sonically in bad condition but I think I was able to recapture some of the original vibe that I was going for with this song.

Acoustic, electric guitars, bass, percussion and vocals by yours truly. Strings composed and performed on Crumar Orchestrator by my good buddy, Luis Damian Güell.

I made a quick iMovie 11 lyric video, which you can see here, if interested. Thanks!

Cool song. 1981. That's amazing. Love the strings and the crooning. So talented!

Nice! Very clean sounding despite the cassette origination.

Thanks guys, kicking myself for sticking an Eventide H910 Harmonizer on the acoustic guitar at the time. We were all playing with it constantly back then. Unfortunately, the left track on the cassette was damaged somewhat and the effect gets lost and kind of floats in and out.

it must be quite a trip to revisit your catalog. Thanks for letting us take a peek!
Good work on the song, recording, and restoration.
I did like the swirling effect on the guitar!

I can't believe that ANY of that came for a 30+ yo cassette tape. Amazing! But I wanna hear some more electric guitar work! get back to work! :-)

Thanks everybody! Hal, I’m actually redoing one right now with some electric guitar that I always liked a lot. I’m replacing the old midi drums with Superior Drummer. Also going to replace the sampled bass guitar with a real bass. I’ll post a link when done.
