Repubs rediscover the national debt
#1
Omigod, where did this deficit come from?

A House panel on Thursday approved a budget resolution for the 2019 fiscal year, advancing the measure two months after its legal deadline and well into the appropriations process it is meant to precede.

The resolution passed the House Budget Committee along a strict, party-line vote of 21-13. [It proposes reductions of] $1.5 trillion from Medicaid, $537 billion from Medicare and $2.6 trillion in reductions to other programs such as welfare, nutritional assistance and other anti-poverty programs.

“The largest looming shadow of doubt on America’s future is, quite simply, the extent of the nation’s debt,” Committee Chairman Steve Womack (R-Ark.) said in his opening remarks of the two-day markup. The national deficit, he noted, was projected to reach nearly $1 trillion next year.

I'm surprised these folks don't get whiplash as they pivot from "trillion-dollar tax cuts!" to "trillion-dollar deficits? The poor and old must be whipped to establish fiscal balance"...

All cuts to come from programs that benefit human citizens. Corporate citizens continue to benefit.

Raise your hand if you didn't see this coming.

I thought tax cuts pay for themselves, or maybe it was Mexico that pays for them, or was it russian hookers trickling down on something orange that pays for them, or was it those voodoo dolls that were supposed to pay for it.

Don't worry. Our Great Leader will find a way out of this, because he promised (repeatedly) he would never cut Medicare or Medicaid, and he always keeps his promises.

Once we determine that a large percentage of our sickest elderly aren't actually American citizens, they will be promptly deported.

No, they'll be force-marched to military-run retirement camps homes whereupon they will conveniently disappear.

I seriously can't understand why Ryan has always held starving the poor and elderly as his holy grail.
