Apple Removes Infowars From Podcast Directory

"Apple Inc. removed links from its podcast directory to content from controversial far-right site Infowars, thrusting the tech giant into the debate over how internet platforms should handle divisive or offensive content.

The iPhone maker said Sunday that it eliminated Infowars from its directory over the weekend for failing to comply with guidelines that are designed to create a safe environment for users, including prohibitions on “hate themes.”

About 10 years too late. As a nation, we need to stop enabling madmen and haters. Don't tell me 'free speech', they can certainly get up on a soap box at their own street corner and speak freely.

While not popular to hear (much less understood by the masses), Free Speech refers to the government not having the right to limit speech. Private companies can limit whatever they want. Just as a bookstore is not obligated to stock or sell any book, Apple has every right to choose what they want to put out as an app, podcast, or anything else.

I'm sure the far right is currently exploding in indignation, screaming censorship, calling for a boycott of Apple, and hitting iPhones with hammers. No one is stopping those affected from standing on a street corner, they just can't do it from Apples parking lot.

Exactly! Apple is not obligated to share things that make them uncomfortable.

Yep. Sounds like the "free enterprise system" at work - regardless of the inconvenience to a few … if the gub'mint says they can't be heard, then we'll have a different discussion.

Of course, some would argue that Apple and a handful of other companies are the de facto gub'mint.

Or simply fake news.

Absolutely, we should applaud every demonstrations of the symbiotic, fascist cooperation between the State and Big Private Enterprise.

Your support is greatly appreciated and makes it possible.
