i'm browsing espn on my iphone 6s+.

suddenly an ad pops up telling me i can win an amazon gift card.

i cannot delete the ad page without deleting espn.

no prob.

i delete the ad page then close safari the re-open safari and go to espn.

i'm good to go for awhile.

then suddenly the same amazon gift card ad pops up.

how did this trash get onto my iphone 6s+?

i believe i am running ios 12.1.2

the website can be seen at the top of the ad page.

it is called:

cardcentercimbniaga.world

how do i rid myself of this pest?

thanks in advance.

thumbs up.

I suggest installing a content blocker, for example:

https://1blocker.com

I have no info on how to get rid of your current pest.

Would clearing the cache do the trick?

I get those on certain sites (some of which I expect better from). They are quite annoying.

I have gotten those a few times on ad-heavy sites. IIRC I just double click the home button and then swipe up on the offending app to restart it.

for some weird reason it is only when i go to espn on my iphone.

i did clear out the safari cache.

again.

i will see if/when it re-appears.

i was hoping someone would have an effective longterm suggestion.

all good.

Sounds like an ad being served by espn.com - is there some reason that you aren't installing an adblocker? try the espn app instead?? that's all I got...

I was getting those garbage ads until I installed 1 blocker X. Ads are gone, you can whitelist sites and blacklist sites manually.

Yeah, if only someone had suggested an effective long term solution…
