My yearly search for a hack to increase System font bigger than 16
#1
Anyone ever find a way (Terminal, ripping out cords inside, soldering on a Uranium transporter, etc) that allows the Finder to have a font size bigger than 16?

I know the standard response is, "lower your monitor resolution" which is what I've always done. But it'd be great to use ones monitors at their default setting.

The other fix a mac genius friend of mine uses is, "get a special set of reader glasses for computing." By which he means "get 4.00 coke bottles."

I shall never give up on this search for a 20 font size Finder!

Have you tried Tinkertool?

I have, hal. I like Tinkertool, but that particular feature has never worked for me, to increase the Finder font size. I actually just tried TT with their latest version (v7.42), and even with a restart, the Finder fonts remain the same 16.

I wish you well.

In the past, I'd up the font in Safari to 'Never use a font smaller than 16' but it often caused problems where the text was too large for the alloced fields.

Sometimes this could be fixed with hitting Cmd + a few times. I've recently dropped this to 14.

So I assume that as a system font, this would be less troublesome?

I once wanted to substitute Helvetica Neue UltraLight for some OS font, but ka jowct said it caused problems. I don't remember if it was in legibility or functionality.

Ever tried: ?

Before I had eye surgery, it helped me where readers couldn't.

What you're searching for involves hacking frameworks and could wreak havoc
on your Mac's stability. Any OS upgrade would probably remove the hacking or
make a bigger mess!
