Who is going to take the reins? Will trump try to be top dog or will Republicans push him to the back of the bus?

He'll try but a loser gets dumped faster than a toilet flushes. Normally I'd say McConnell, but if things go really poorly for the GOP (one only hopes), it will likely be someone younger who is being positioned for 2024. Nicky Haley comes to mind.

I can't begin to think....Liz Cheney becomes a Senator and she takes over?

Picked up from a Twitter thread:
Nicky Haley brings to mind a dog hanging around the kitchen while food is being prepared.

Several are jockeying. Larry Hogan has dreams, but his signature feat of flying masks in via Korean Air (as dramatically featured in his book that laments a lack of Trump help ... ) has already had water tossed on it with interviews of more local suppliers who couldn’t get so much as a response from him when they had masks to supply.

WaPo's list for 2024 contenders. This assumes a Trump loss in 2020. The linked article explains the thinking behind each potential candidate. Josh Hawley makes a lot of sense, I also think Nikki Haley is a good guess. Tom Cotton makes me want to throw up therefore he's probably very beloved by Conservatives.
POSITION POTENTIAL CANDIDATE 1. Josh Hawley 2. (TIE) Tom Cotton 2. (TIE) Nikki Haley 4. Mike Pence 5. Donald Trump Jr. 6. Marco Rubio 7. Mike Pompeo 8. Ted Cruz 9. Tim Scott 10. (TIE) Rick Scott 10. (TIE) Elise Stefanik https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/...rc404=true

Lemon Drop wrote: After seeing that list I just HAD to see where it came from. Henry Olsen, opinion writer. He's more whackadoodle than reality, and that's not in any way Washington Post's "list" of serious contenders. "Also receiving votes, Tucker Carlson ... " an so on.

Tom Cotton, the Arkansas Ted Cruz, will give it hell. He's a POS, if y'all don't know.
