First trip to McDonald's in quite a while.
#1
I had a lab appointment the other day for blood work in preparation for a physical next Monday. It was a fasting test, so nothing to eat since the evening before. I left the appointment about 5 minutes after I got there and figured I'd treat myself to an Egg McMuffin and a hash brown at the local McD's. It's been quite a while since I've been to one, so I figured it might cost me close to $5 now. Ha!

Cashier: "That'll be $7.58 please."
Me: "For an Egg McMuffin and a hash brown!?"
Cashier: "Yeah, I know."

Guess it'll be another dozen years before I go back.

In case you haven't noticed, all food costs have gone up. So has the cost of having employees.

My first reaction was to say, "I'm sorry" about having to partake in that food. I worked family/fast casual restaurants for 20 years and loved it. I worked Fast Food for 2 1/2 years and hated it. I don't like working it, or eating it. The last fast food I had was on the NJ Turnpike about 5 years ago. That reminded me how much I dislike it.

Stopped at Popeye's to get my daughter a chicken strip meal; what was $5.99 a few months (?) ago is now $9.99. And you get less for your money.

My wife makes a helluva good Egg McMuffin at home. If we don't have Canadian Bacon we use ham lunch meat. The last time we bought two McD's Egg McMuffins and two apple pies it was a little under $11.

That's the thing. I often make my version of an egg McMuffin at home. This was pure convenience. I told my wife and mentioned that the cashier should have suggested one of their specials instead. To which my wife rolled her eyes and replied "Hon, she was probably hired yesterday and doesn't care."

Touche.

We had blood work this morning for our physicals next Thursday and then went to McDonalds before the golf course. But, before we went we each opened the app and looked at deals. There were $1 breakfast sandwiches. We each got a sausage McMuffin with egg and a cup of coffee so it was about $2.15 out the door each. We had to buy them separately because of using the coupon. They've often had a BOGO for breakfast sandwiches but not today.
