I'm annoyed that the nytimes changed how it displays county level covid data

I want the simple risk categories. I wonder why they got rid of them.

I can still make sense of the raw numbers but its not as satisfying. The test positivity percentage is still too high....but I'm not sure it will ever come down. I think we're moving toward testing when you think you have it rather than a precautionary measure. We have had a nice long decline of cases. I guess a decline in the decline rate is expected as covid countermeasures are related.

Oh shoot! they got rid of the per capita infection numbers! I guess I could calculate it myself but they should do it in their damn county level dashboard. absolute numbers don't mean a damn thing. Update - its in the map.

It'll be interesting to see where numbers are in a month. Just saying that feels like progress. I wonder how low the numbers will go. Or will there be a spoiler variant? Of course, just because its controlled here doesn't mean it isn't spreading like wildfire elsewhere in the world.

that's my get from what I've read. If the 2nd & 3rd world don't get on vaxing, it just takes one person with what gets thru airport "security" to change the numbers.

I am trying to enjoy any respite we get, but be willing to go to back to stricter measures, if things change.
At least in the warmer weather we can do more things outside, which is always safer than crowded inside.
