My Sister got covid between vaccines
#1
My BIL just got his second Astra Zeneca shot and 5 days later got Covid. Sister also tested positive, she got her 1st shot and was waiting for the second dose. Their 2 daughters (6, 14) also got it.

they did quick tests at home (In Romania) and then called the medical service which came and took proper samples and ran a PCR test. Yes, all 4 are positive. Luckily it was not so bad, probably the vaccines did help somewhat. Still unclear if sister can get the second shot, she may need to wait and start over, or maybe just the second shot but later than the usual 3 week.

Did they actually get sick or just test positive?

Were they acting prudently throughout or did they junk the masks after the first shot?

Is seems that ANY vax in the system helps ward off serious disease, but this is still a bug that I want to avoid completely.

Sick. High fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, cough. Each had different symptoms and various degrees of severity.

They tried to stay safe, but they had two events:

1. Younger girl birthday, they had 2 or 3 families over and they all stayed outside. When they got sick, they told these families to get tested and all were negative.

2. They ordered some construction material and brother in law helped unload the delivery truck. Neither him nor the driver wore the mask. He realized he didn’t have the mask on later. The driver was in a hurry to make more deliveries that day and caught my BIL somewhat unprepared and asked for quick help.

Both events were outside and I think the risk of infection is lower outside.

Glad they are better.
No vaccine is 100% and even people being careful can get it.

I see. That is awful. I heard of a positive after vaccination that did not result in any sickness.
