Wild guessing, not knowing geolocation or reading levels/preferences of the 7/9 y.o. girls:

AbeBooks: https://www.abebooks.com/
Scholastic Books: https://www.scholastic.com/home/

GoodWill store near you?
Dollar Store? Dollarama?

Authors to consider:
C. S. Lewis (Chronicles of Narnia series (7 vol), Perelandra series (3 vol))
J.R.R. Tolkien (The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings series (3 vol))
Madeleine L'Engle (A Wrinkle in Time series)
Roald Dahl
Beverly Cleary
R.L.Stine (Goosebumps)
Dav Pilkey
Carl Hiaasen
Cornelia Funke

Is this at all helpful?

It really depends on what fascinates them. My daughter was all about the fairies and mythology.

This geographic area is barren of anything cultural. I’ve only found a handful that the library gave away. Our dollar stores are very small and have almost nothing. Buying them from Amazon starts to add up fast.

We have an Xmas gift that wife assures me will go to waste on the 12 yr old grandson. It's Neil deGrasse Tyson's Astrophysics for Young People in a Hurry (with illustrations) geared toward 8-12 year olds.

Yours for a forwarding add - PM me if it'll work.

You should join Facebook and find your nearest Buy Nothing Group. You can ask on there. Nobody is allowed to charge anything, that's the entire point of these groups.
