Word to the wise-think twice about buying an LG TV
#1
A friend's brother bought one, and he is going through the torments of hell, and a bunch of folks have been roped in to help him.

The problem is that even though the TV works fine with a DVD player, and recognizes that there's a PC plugged into it, it refuses to show the image from the PC. The PC was connected to another monitor and another 4K TV, and worked fine.

I tried to help, and downloaded the manual. What a clusterfck! As best I can make out, you need to download an app to your iPhone or Android phone to use most of the features! And the manual is a total mess-badly translated from Korean, confusing, and pretty much useless.

I have a TCL and Vizio at home, and while they're not models of clarity in the user interface, they're at least usable.

You should probably list the model. I bought an LG C1 and it's an outstanding TV. I have wireless router playing back FIOS, playback with airplay, and a Roku box into HDMI. All are fine.

Yeah, it's hard to ascribe awfulness based on this situation.

I have two LG 4K TVs, connected to multiple inputs including cable box over the RGB / RCA style cables, computers inc. Windows, Mac, Chromebook, Raspberry Pi, XBox, bluray player.

Yes I think for over the air "screen sharing" you need an app for Android and Windows; my newer LG supports AirPlay 2 but it seems to stutter somewhat coming from a wifi iOS device...

Other than that, no real complaints - and mine are the cheap models. In fact the only regret was not buying another firesale-priced costco unit available in mid 2020. 42" for $250 or 50" for $350.

:agree:

Own two LG's & very happy with them from day one.
ftr, I will never buy any Vizio product again. Worst TV and worst
customer service I have ever experienced.

Try another HDMI cable. If that doesn’t work, have him call LG and get it fixed under warranty.

Mine every time the DVD is hooked up it wants to default tp playing it . Have to unplug to stream . Sometimes when streaming it will keep going back to a previous channel . Change it 10 times and just goes back . Only way to stop it it is shut down for 5 min .

We have five LG tv's in our house and I have no complaints. Only one has required warranty work and it was honored far past it's actual warranty.
