2008 Saturn Astra
#1
Kind of a cross between a Mazda 3 (hatch) and a VW Rabbit.

Yup, looks like a Saturn. And every other small hatchback.

So when it breaks down you can tell people you have a pain in the Astra.

OK, this has got to stop.

When I was a kid, the new models came out the day after Christmas. It is now 1 week into february, and you are talking about the 2008s? WTF?

And that thing looks like a VW Rabbit and a Honda Civic mated.

Used to be October in the "Good Ole Days", the dealerships used to cover the showroom windows with kraft paper and remove it at the unveiling.

Not bad. Looks along the lines of the Civic hatchback and the VW's (Gold, GTI, etc.).

"Power comes from a 1.8L Ecotec four-cylinder engine, delivering 140 horsepower (104 kW) and good fuel economy." They don't say a number, but I would hope it gets high 30's to be comparable to a Honda. It could have a huge fan base if it does better than that.

"Active head restraints and collapsible pedals"

Very cool on a small car.

These are all much larger cars, except maybe the small Mazda.

In Europe there is a station wagon in the Astra line. I wish they would bring that model to the US as well. I have 1999 Saturn SW2 that holds a lot of stuff when I need it and gets good mileage as well. It gets 37 mpg on the highway when I can make myself stick to the speed limit. It's now got 120K miles on it so it will need replacing in the next few years. There isn't anything like it on the market now. The 3 and 5 door hatchbacks don't hold nearly as much stuff as the wagons.
