Problem importing converted (NTSC->PAL) movie into iMovie.
#1
Hi,

I have created NTSC iMovie project that burned successfully thru iDVD onto a DVD media. Now I would like to create PAL DVD disk for my family in Europe. So I have tried QuickTime conversion that Apple suggest but was unhappy with results. Then found JesDeinterlacer application which works great. I was able to convert my NTSC DV output into PAL DV. All in 16x9 format. The converted file plays fine on VLC and QuickTime. So now I would like to import that into a new PAL iMovie project. Went to import, selected DV Widescreen but the imported movie in iMovie defaulted to 4x3 format. I is actually widescreen but has gray bars on both sides. So now I have people looking very tall and thin with unused space to the left and right.. Tried almost all the options on import screen without a success.

I need to import into iMovie to do chapters unless there is an easier way.

Please help.
Thanks.

Where in Europe?

Here in the UK, and from what I have been told it's the same for a lot of Western Europe, our DVD players will happily play NTSC just as 95% of our VCRs could as well towards the end. Nice of you to take the trouble but it shouldn't be necessary.

I know that I do not really need to convert as most VCRs and DVD players in Europe will plan NTSC movies but since iMovie and iDVD offer this option I wanted to try it out. The iMovie project is done. All I need to do is to add chapters and burn DVD.

Thanks.
