canned air
#1
I don't have and can't justify buying a compressor, so I rely on canned air for little projects around the house. Every time I go to buy some, it always seems ridiculously expensive for what it is. Anyone have any great sources at a decent price? Or is it just a matter of 'it is what it is"?

Thanks.

Best price I have seen is $15 for four 10 oz cans at Sam's Club but seems to be OOS online right now, maybe available in store ???

Depending on what you use it for, maybe a small battery powered air blower would suit your needs?

i.e. https://www.nitecorestore.com/BB21-Elect...e-bb21.htm

And there's a bunch of generic Chinese ones that will take various power tool batteries. I've thought about trying one, but beware if you're a DeWalt user like I am, as DeWalt batteries don't have a protection circuit built-in (it's built into the tool instead), so when using the batteries in other ways, it's possible to discharge them too far and damage the batteries.

Thanks. Yeah, about $4-5 a can seems to be the going rate unless they're on sale. I hadn't even thought about a small battery powered one. Lots of 'em on Amazon. Might be a good option. Thanks.

Here's a link to a $15 portable compressed air duster :https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CBKH4JB3/?creative=9325&camp=1789&tag=dealnewscom&m=A3TXATFGWC7ZDM&ascsubtag=3i60vn7mq1p8esu1inngVNJP6GnsSxBY

I have a similar one, and although it has decent pressure, I haven't found one that is a good replacement for canned air. I agree that canned air is ridiculously priced now. You could get a small pancake compressor at Harbour Freight for about the cost of maybe 8 cans of compressed air at Wally-world (and probably even less if you find a refurb).

Hmmm...is that one you linked really weak? Those were the type I was just looking at. Then again, Amazon is really good about returns, so it might be worth a try.

This one gets great reviews, but it's not cordless.

This one is.

Just ordered that second one I linked. We'll see how it goes.

Please report back on how it works.

Hazard Fraught used to have their cheapest 120 V air compressor on sale for ~$46. The 'regular' price is currently $60. I don't remember seeing one on sale recently. A 20% off coupon would make it $48.

Most brands of cordless tools have a tire inflator for around $40, or a little less on sale. Buy once, use for years. Rock Auto has a 12 V tire pump for $14. It would take a little more money and work to set up something with a small reservoir, hose/trigger/nozzle to replace canned air. It might pump up to 120 psi but I would not expect it to last more than an hour trying to maintain that pressure for dusting work.
