I need a really cheap microwave
#1
we no longer go to the movies. Large screen TV at home, but kids and wife still want popcorn. She does it in our microwave but it stinks. Need to wipe with vinegar after each round of popcorn.

I think PeterB got a cheap unit a few months ago, I'll look for that link.

Or maybe this BestBuy unit for $80

If you are using smelly "microwave popcorn" prepackaged bags, you might give this dedicated microwave popper container a try and use a 1/4 cup of regular popcorn kernels for each container full.

Using your own choice of popcorn lets you control the quality, sodium, and fat content. I use it frequently and find it to work very well. Just add your own seasonings, butter, etc after it is cooked.

Hot air popcorn popper $3 at a yard sale, it was new. Melt some butter, pour over and stir in and add salt. They all love it here.

This is the site that PeterB used. Mostly seems to be microwaves that Walmart sells, possibly open box returns.

Cheapest I've seen in-store at Walmart was $55 for a 700 watt Mainstays, but they seem to show some others even cheaper than that, but might not be in-store.

I've been considering getting a cheap low wattage one to use in power outages off of an inverter or solar genenrator since our normal microwave is built-in to a 240v wall oven and that's not going to get powered during an outage.

....if you live near a 'college' town.....people give away stuff/toss at end of year.....you can also look at FB marketplace/craigslist as people will sell when they move......or look for garage/yard sales near you.....

....also if you have Good Will/Salvation Army store near you.....

Yep, still pretty happy with my purchase. I could have gone used, but for $25 shipped for something that essentially looked brand new, I couldn't complain.

Edit: I should say that the new one does take longer for something to get really hot... but I don't know if that's just because of the wattage, or the design of this particular model, but obviously it IS working. Again, at that price point, I can't complain.

I saw several different models at Walmart for $70.

I don't understand why you want another microwave - the popcorn is still gonna cause a stink that requires frequent cleaning
