Problem with this is it needs its own special hitch which is likely why the huge discount. Who is going to remove their existing receiver hitch and install this specialized hitch just to carry a box.

Tend to agree. I picked up an aluminum hitch platform for $80 at Harbor Freight (after coupon) and a
Work box at Home Depot for $80 (after coupon) that gives me more volume than that behind our RV. Works great.
