I'm finally here, with a slight change of name.

I had no luck with deleting cookies, trying to change my password, or DMing anyone. Does it matter? Nice to see everyone again. Should I try to get my "real" account (ka jowct) working?

I would try to get the old one working.  Status shows that it's an active account, but you're viewing a no permissions page.  So you can log in, which is a huge first step.

https://forums.macresource.com/member.php?action=profile&uid=98

As a test, have you tried creating a new mac user account or logging in as a guest user on your mac, and then use a web browser from a virgin mac user that will have no old cookies, and see if you can log into the forum using your old username and a virgin browser.  If that works then it's some sort of saved state issue in your normal browsers.

If all else fails you might try emailing Troy, his email address was in the automated email that was sent when resetting the password of the old username.

Hope you can get your old self back.

It took several tries and a few PMs but I got mine back.

rg got hers back.

I didn't get a final PM saying Try now, though I got others, but no joy.

Cookies didn't matter, for me anyway.

Finally, I logged out of my II account.

Clicking Login, I put my old UN in the appropriate slot in the window.

Without putting anything in the PW slot, I clicked the Forgot link.

It generated an email with the two links, the first bringing no joy.

Clicking the second In Case... link, I manually added my old UN and activation code in the new window.

Then the next page said 'An email have been sent... with a temporary PW...'

That email took quite a while to show up but it did.

I entered it and Viola! (I know.) I was in.

Between the final wave of troy's magic IT wand and signing in to my old name, I didn't get any more info.

It just worked.

I've decided to embrace the change and keep my new, more personal name. There was nothing major in my messages that I'll lose.

I had seen somewhere (maybe the "welcome" post at the top) that things had gotten straightened out from the "You are not allowed" issue.

So I tried my old account again with the assigned PW and it worked! I was able to get in and reset the PW, etc.

It's worth a try, and/or let them know you are still having issues.

I'm still having no luck, even with the newly assigned passsword.

“But look, you found the notice, didn’t you?”
“Yes,” said Arthur, “yes I did. It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the Leopard.'"
