I Miss the Time Lords (spoilers)

'Cause casually violating the first law of time like that deserves harsh and swift punishment.

A good episode otherwise, but that kind of sh!t only serves to demonstrate that Tennant's Doctor is seriously unstable and in need of a slap-down.

...and they had my hopes up when he busted the sonic screwdriver. It would be nice if he had to survive on his wits for awhile.

Which season is this? I haven't picked up #2 on DVD yet - is this the start of the 3rd or just the 2nd?

This is the 3rd season of the "new" show, or as us diehards refer to it, Season 29*.

*actually Season 30 if you count Paul McGann's one TV movie as a whole season. Which I do. So there. Nyah.

I'm enjoying watching the fan base turn cynical and start taking it all for granted again. Ah, the good times ...

3rd. Just started in the UK.

New companion.

The story is a bit thin, the threat to earth utterly implausible and they use a poor 3rd-generation photocopy of the Sontarans as a shallow plot device, but the goal was clearly to show a good vibe between the Doctor and his new companion and they accomplished that well.

Freema is talented, expressive and attractive. She's got a gift for taking the absurd lines they feed her and making them seem reasonable.

I've got my hopes up for this season. Although sadly the rumors aren't true that they're replacing Tennant. He's just signed for season 4.

Yeh, I'd call it season 29 as the '96 Fox movie is just an aside IMO. I'm about 1/3 the way thru converting my old DW videotapes to DVDs and then popping them on the media server so I can watch them whenever I want (and after the VCR dies).
