Preferred Flash/Thumb Drive?
#1
Anyone have any recommendations on a flash drive, 512MB to 1GB?

I have a need for one (tired of burning CDs for quick moves and a shared folder isn't the answer) and am perplexed (befuddled? wonkified?) by the sheer quantity out there.

I use a 512MB Lexar. Works well and haven't had any problems with it.

Hope you can use the USB 2 model . . . for any hope of speed . . .

I just picked up a 1GB LG model at Sams Club. Main reason I really like it, is that the USB connector part retracts. I never liked the cap that most have. Just another thing to lose.

Ah, Sam's -- I'll have to check that out tomorrow. What price, Gilbert?

I would ideally like a thumb drive that I could drive into my thumb.

I mean really... think about the convenience!

they were so unbearbly slow that i bought (well i built) a portable 2.5" FW drive instead -- zillion times faster --

although mine is FW -- id assume a USB 2 one would be as well -- and 2.5 cases are $13 at newegg

I like the JumpDrive Sport: http://www.lexar.com/jumpdrive/jd_sport.html

Thin enough to fit into a TiBook USB port without blocking the other one and the cap is separate from the drive. I had an older Lexar that had the keyhole built into the drive and the weight of my keys would pull down on it and break the connection. Not good for the drive or the port.
