Anyone know of a good how-to on Suitcase Fusion?
#1
Wound up with a copy of Suitcase Fusion; I've used Font Doctor a few times but never really Suitcase (though I did have a licensed copy of Suitecase 10). I'm trying to wrap my brain around it and use it (I do have a lot of fonts); is there a good guide on usage? Anyone with first-hand experience with the program (or said guides)?

There was a best practices guide available on the Extensis site.

I did find the general manual there, but not much more. I'll keep digging.

heres my guide for suitcase, im gonna assume fusion is about the same:

drop all of your fonts into one folder on your machine -- maybe in your home folder

now is the best time to do some font cleanup -- put groups of fonts in folders, delete duplicates, etc

go into fontbook and turn of EVERYTHING

drag font folder into suitcase, it will take a few seconds to load

activate fonts you think you use on a regular basis...done

Last time I did something like that (moved all my fonts from my User folder to my Main Library Fonts folder) menus stopped displaying any text and things got generally wonky.

BTW Seacrest, it's called Fusion because it "fuses" the best parts of Suitcase and Font Reserve into one application–which coincidentally still doesn't nearly add up to the quality and features found in the magnificent freeware app LinoType FontExplorer X. Save yourself $100 and get FEX!

It seems to be the "in" word for product names this year.

Here's the instructions:

1. Go to a hypnotist and pay them to make you forget that POS ever existed.

2. Download FEX or a demo of Font Agent Pro. Decide which one you like better.

3. Purchase Font Agent Pro (because it's better).

4. Live a happy life.
