Where's Classic Install?
#1
Classic isn't installed on my new Mac Mini (G4). i looked on the install disk under 'bundled software' but it's not there. also checked 'optional installs' and it's not there either

the only other option is 'OS X and bundled software'which requires a restart.

is it there?

Nope---it will come from you old machine if you do migration/set up assistant. Otherwise you will need a 9.2 disc.

oh, okay.

so, someone w/o a previous mac would have to buy OS 9?

i guess the assumption is that a newbie or switcher would have little need for an OS 9 app...

if you have the original install discs, it's included--but you have to install it separately.

Check Mac Help on your machine for details.

For example, I got OS9 included with my recent iBook purchase. It's no big deal.

And don't listen to those who said that you have to buy it. It came with the Mini.

okay, elmo3 wins the rainbow apple of the day though it took a call to the Apple Store to figure it out (and even that dude had to go ask someone else).

OS 9 is on the second Install Disk. printed in small type is "Includes OS 9'. it's the only thing on that disk apparently. you install it like any other app; no need to boot from an install cd.

we cool now!

and actually, shame on OWC Larry for using this as an opportunity to sell a copy of OS9 at the forum member's expense.
