trashing music in itunes

ok...so where do the songs go that I delete and accidentally click "keep files" instead of "move to trash"

They remain in your Music Folder... just eliminated from your Library.

You can move them to the trash from the Music Folder if you want to.

ah ha. I was afraid of that. Is there anyway to restore them? Do I just toss the library file and reload the songs? That would get them all back right?

Yes, that would get them back . . . BUT it would be easier just to go to the Music Folder and drag them back onto the iTunes window.

OR, from iTunes File menu select Add to Library and then navigate to them in the dialog window you are presented.

while that is true. I've been combing through several gb's of music and have accidentally hit the wrong key several times. So I cannot remember exactly what or where they are. But they are all dupes, so i'd rather remove them from my HD. It all stems from the fact that the default key in that dialog is the "keep files" button. So when I hit delete, I have a tendency to hit the return key to confirm too fast...which hits the keep files button.
