Did I "blow it" with this rebate?
#11
"Have you had positive results using this method, particularly with Office Depot? "

Yes, once with OD & then with another different rebate processor. The both have websites for status inquires.

EDIT:
>They specifically say: "Office Depot is not responsible for Late, Lost, Damaged or Misdirected Mail Claims."<

OD CANNOT prove they didn't lose it, so the burden is on them. They won't risk bad PR or a Consumer Protection Complaint for a measly rebate.

Panopticon, that information is far more helpful.

Thank you for posting it.

I'm definitely considering your suggestion.

I think you did! That's what they bet on.

Unfortunate stories like this are why I will not touch a rebate. Office Depot is happy right now, just they way they planned.

Whatever marketing genius who dreamed up rebates belongs in the same cell with who ever invented spam. Actually spam is annoying but does not take your money.

Actually, until now, I've always sent in for and received my rebates.

It's just that lately I'm getting three to four hours of sleep a night due to breathing problems. This has made it a bit difficult for me to stay on top of things. Sad

My brother-in-law has access to a mail unit at work. He dialed the date back a few days and post-marked it. He got the rebate.

I've dealt with 2 bad rebates by going directly to the stores. Both times, the manager gave me the money (cash at Walgreens; gift card at Office Depot).

I'd take it to Office Depot, tell the manager what occurred and ask for the rebate amount in a gift card. I had done the same thing as you at Walgreens and had no problem getting the cash; I think it was $30 for 3 phones.

wowzer, I did the same thing years ago when I worked in an office and had access to a mail machine. Unfortunately, no mail machine nowadays.

I read just fine.

ummmm.....you really did. You wondered if they would accept it late. That's another way of simply asking for them to go against their rules. That's begging.

Regardless of the word you use to describe it, that's RISKY.

Like I said, you're at zero now. No matter what you do, you have nowhere to go but up. You offered up one RISKY idea, which is not at all guaranteed to work.

Then someone else offers up another idea that's not guaranteed to work, one that you didn't think of--and you reject it because it's "RISKY"?

My remarks were not at all nasty. That you chose to receive them that way speaks volumes about you.

That you would reject the idea because "ooooo, it's risky" is, in this situation, both amazingly funny and pathetic at the same time.

People who feel a need to tell the world that they've plonked someone are a special kind of people.

Which was the ENTIRE POINT. Read what you wrote: "not responsible for LATE or LOST claims..." You asked about "gee, what about sending it in late, think it'll work?" and rejected as "too risky" the idea of claiming it was LOST.

Two equally bad plans, which by the above you admit, yet you hang onto one as somehow being not as bad and immediately reject the other one?

I sent in one a couple days late, thinking it's worth a stamp. I got the rebate.
