$99 per issue from Dell support?
#1
My Windows Home XP ed wouldn't boot up even in Safe Mode. There is no XP disc came with the Dell Inspiron 6000 we bought 6 months ago :-( So now I am calling Dell tech support at the cost of $99 per issue! I had thought that by buying a $250 extended warranty would cover this type of incidence as well. NOOOOOOOOOO! With $99 we could purchase a Windows XP disc ourselves.

With Dells there is usually an option to order a disc with the OS on it as a backup--I saw it was $10 additional for the actaul disc for XP media center on a Laptop recently. You might see if you can add it to your order now--a little late.

I grinned and bore and called up Dell Tech Support for software (extended warranty solely covers hardware issues). Well, the rep tried so hard to sell me the solution to my Dell's problem without revealing anything until I'd cough up the $99 via my CC. Well, I asked her to send me the Windows XP disc instead. She gave me the phone number to order the disc on Monday. She said it'd be free of charge. We'll see.

I guess flooding the market with the cheap machines from Dell has a nice secondary market.
