I just wiped out my ENTIRE Entourage calendar syncing it with iCal. Please Help!
#1
Alright kids. I'm using Entourage 2004 and I foolishly decided to try syncing it with iCal using the Syncing pane in the Preferences Menu pictured below.

When I opened iCal to have it sync there was a dialogue with three choices and I chose the one that would have seemed to do the least damage. I can't remember now. The problem is, it wiped out my ENTIRE Entourage calendar. I didn't find this out until now when I brought the computer out of sleep. The last 4.5 years are gone. Absolutely nothing is there and the Office Notifications doesn't even start up.

Is there anyway to retrieve this at all? Can I rebuild the database or something? Anything? The kicker is iCal isn't even showing my dates from Entourage even though it started a new colour/calendar for it.

Please help!

Trish,

I suspect that Entourage is pointing to a new blank Identity, or a past Identity. Check to see if your Contacts are still there as well as your email. Then do a search in your Microsoft User Data folder and see how many Identities you have.

All my contacts are still there and only one Identiy folder is present. All my other info including emails and whatnot are there because I didn't sync anything else.

If it makes you feel better I erased 50 emails from my inbox by accident while troubleshooting someone a problem. Smile

Is there any way to at least make it appear in iCal? Then I might be able to reimport it back to Entourage.

Trisho,

this is a new one to me. The best entourage gurus are located at two places:

1. http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft....entourage I see you've already posted there. (and no, Google groups can't place inline images, oddly enough. The only way is what you did: paste the link)

2. Get on this email list by emailing a request to:
Entourage-Talk-on@lists.letterrip.com with Subscribe in subject. A few Entourage employees use that list, so you'll be seen.

Be sure you add more details to the post, like that you still can see your contacts, emails, etc.

Also, I have to ask: do you have *no* backup of that Identity for the past 4 years? If so, I highly suggest getting into the habit of using Office Notifications to remind you, weekly, of Command-D'ing the Identity folder. Too easy, and prevents a lot of hassles.

Good luck!
