I found a blog with some info I modified and used; I would like to post the result on my own blog, with acknowledgment of the source. What's the etiquette for doing this?

Don't the guys at engadget do this all the time? Copy what they do, I don't know if it's proper, but they made a lot of money doing it.

It depends on the blog. Some sites have automatically generated links called trackback, which I see as an unoffical invitation to use content if you link to it. A slight step down is if the blogger has a title that is a URL at the start of an entry. The lowest level, though I still see it as an invitation to use content, is if the bloger at least has a heading in the HTML that identifies an entry (such as www.blog.com/gtds/18-05-2006.html#linking-etiquette). You might also post a link to their blog if you read it often. You could also email them and ask...
