My father-in-law's kidneys started...umm..."producing"...and later...he regained consciousness! It's still too early to know if he suffered any permanent damage, but this is definitely good news.
Good news!

I must have missed the beginning of this story, perhaps when I was in the hospital for six days, during which I was told my one remaining kdney was on its last legs.
I'm glad for any good news concerning anyone's kidney problems. BTW, my new specialist was a bit less doom and gloom, which was my good news. It was news to me that I had such a major problem and I fault the numerous doctors I've seen over the last five years for not calling attention to my kidney function besides just telling me that I had "renal insufficiency" rather than explaining how critical it was to start taking care of what remained of my kidney (apparently one of my kidneys had atrophied due to blockage in the artery that fed it). Apparently diet plays a critical role in preserving a failing kidney, with protein being a major source of overtaxing and breaking down this important organ. Word to the wise, don't wait to have your doctor to explain in detail what you need to do to preserve your kidneys as you age. You must be proactive in getting the necessary information. Best wishes to your uncle, CJsNvrUrly.

Good news indeed. My best wishes go out to him. GeneL sorry to hear of your recent health woes. I also am a firm believer in being proactive. . .most doctors that I've seen haven't been that interested in being "good doctors". . .one didn't even know about a recent medication @ all and one didn't know about a particular treatment less painful (though it wasn't recent) until I mentioned it to him. . . (and that treatment worked!) Well. ..hope the worst is over for you and that your healt greatly improves. . .all me best.

I must have missed this too due to my infrequent forum visits, but let me take this time to wish your father-in-law well CJsNvrUrly, and to wish you well GeneL too.
