I believe I can still use generic inks in this Canon model. Is that correct?
I would appreciate any advice from fellow MP780 users (or any knowledgable folk, which is a lot here) about their experiences with generics and what inks to use.
Thanks in Advance for your help.

i tried some generic inks in my 780 from my local frys -- they looked like they had 2X as much ink in them, i thought that was awesome
unfortunatly, they leaked all over the inside of my 780 =(
ended up just taking my old carts (one at a time) to staples and got $3 off a new genuine canon ones
if you do go generic, report back on your experience

what kind of printer are you using linamen?
FWIW, the 780 uses the same inks as the ip 3000/4000/5000 series of printers

I used ink packaged by G&G and made in the US.
I got it from
http://inkandbeyond.com/ for no particular reason, but the price was decent.
So far so good. Also used the same stuff in a Brother MP type printer with good results. Been a couple weeks to a month.

jdc....I am currently using ink4art generic cartridges in TWO Canon i560 printers, while my brother is using ink4art cartridges in his Canon ip4000 and my son is using them in his ip3000.
