My first generation G5 is long in the tooth. What say the great Apple soothsayers? An update this year would be highly unlikely, but January? A cookie to the best prognosticator.

New Mac Pros are just waiting for Intel to fab enough chips to keep up production. If they aren't announced by MW SF, there will be an announcement in Feb.

I'd wait until newer models are released. It's bound to happen soon (within the next 6 months, for sure). so if you can hold off, do.

I've heard rumors that the next generation will include a form factor change. Not sure if the rumors are accurate or not, but it's been a while since the current case was introduced.

I hope not, this is a great case, well laid out, everything is incredibly easy to R&R, tons of space, RAM is a super breeze to install.
The only change on the case I would make is a couple of locating lugs on the side door.

I thought I was doing that by buying a 2.66 Mac Pro in October.

BGnR is right; the case is perfect right now. As long as they don't screw up how easy it is to access everything; it really wouldn't matter to me if they changed the external case.
