The Official "10.4.8 broke my [insert here]" thread

... your worthless carcass is STILL my ticket to Valhalla...

cracke me up.

This would be the second update Apple sent down that required two restarts.

Is there enough of a pause that somebody might not allow the second restart?

There is no Norse god of lightning.

lightning comes from Thor's hammer Mjollnir being thrown.

[quote vision63]The update fixed my Medal of Honor/Spearhead game on my new iMac.

Why is it so extrememly important to restart twice and why wouldn't Apple inform people that it's extrememly important considering the fact that maybe about 100 of their millions of users will read then heed chas_m's warnings?
1. It's important because the second restart is from the security update, and because if you interrupt the completion of the update process you may hose your system.

2. They did. It's in the technote as well as the instructions that come with the update.

Hey, guys...my heart goes out to this MAVIC and you are poking fun at him? If his story is true the last thing he needs is snide remarks and funning.

Maybe it is a "guy" thing but I feel sorry for him when he asks for help.

Isn't the double boot an Intel Mac thing?

My Leg! My Leg! Ow! Ow! Ow!

I used to work with a Yugoslavian who didn't do well with idiomatic expressions. He once said to my boss, "Oh—you are pulling me on my leg!".

10.4.8 did not break Pith Helmet for once.

On the other hand it didn't fix my software update app, which has been broken since 10.4.6. I get a goofy timed out message. There are tons of posts about it in Apple Discussions so I am not alone, but no solution yet.
