I saw an OSX dock lookalike on a Dell desktop but it say Linux. Where can find it to install on my S/O's HP Pavillion desktop? It will help me to remember that I am a Mac user no matter what

The Dock sucks. Why you'd want to pollute your computing environment with something like that, I have no idea.
Just because Apple does it, doesn't make it a good idea.

I disagree with Elmo. I will agree that its default configuration sucks. I shrink it down until it is a tiny strip on the side. I see no reason for the dock to eat up the entire screen. Anyway, back to the original question...
What windowing system is the computer using? KDE or Gnome most likely. In Gnome, you can install a package called Gdesklets. It enables you to turn on features that are similar to Widgets. One of them is very similar to the dock. The packages are available from the reposistories that are available in Ubuntu. I've never installed it on anything else. I think that KDE has something similar available as well. It may even be a feature of KDE as KDE seems to be all about eye-candy and tweaking the desktop.

ztirffritz,
The Dell desktop uses XP SP2 Home Ed. I should be able to find either of those package at Linux.org?

I should be able to find either of those package at Linux.org? You said above in your original post that it was running Linux. It can't be both. Linux is an operating system, as is Mac OS X, Windows XP, BSD, UNIX, BeOS, etc. For the most part, applications written for one OS will not work on another OS without significant modifications to the code. You said that the Dell was running Linux, so I gave you the information for Linux. Monster gave you a metric butt-load of links for Windows apps. Hope you find what you're looking for.

The OS is definitely Windows XP Home Ed (I own a couple of WinTel computers with the same OS). However, the desktop shows a large Linux penguin and it has the Mac like dock and it says Linux something I can't recall it now.
Anyway, I will take a look at all those links. Thanks Monster!

almost any picture can be set to a desktop (wallpaper in Windowsese) pattern.
see this linked page - there are several "dock" apps for Windoze available - RocketDock, ObjectDock, RKLauncher, etc. http://www.downloadsquad.com/2006/08/20/...r-windows/ |
