Don't really understand MacZOT. So I pay money for discounted software, but I don't know the exact software I'm getting. Hmmm. Is it the thrill of "winning" a prize that makes this appealing?

I thank you for the update $tevie and a guarantee is certainly promising, but I still don't get "it". I must be dense, since the phenomenon seems popular enough. I'm sure on occasion some of the software even proves worth the suspense.

silvarios, I think the idea is that you are going to get software that is worth several times what you paid for it, but you are gambling in that you don't know what it is.

I think it is based on the wildly popular "bag of crap" at W00t, which I am not very familiar with myself but see mentioned here fairly frequently. In fact, the entire MacZOT concept is a software-oriented take on the W00t model: sell one item until it is gone.

Someone posted links to a bunch of W00t-style sites a couple of weeks ago. I guess it is the latest thing in web retailing.

Personally, I like to gamble once in a while, so I thought I'd give it another go. I've bought one other mystery bundle there and was sort of underwhelmed, but it was only $6.95 so I didn't feel ripped off either.
