TNT Bellies Up to 'Bar'
Steven Bochco legal drama earns series order

TNT has added another series to its roster of dramas, picking up the Steven Bochco-produced "Raising the Bar" for later this year.

The cable channel ordered 10 episodes of the show, which focuses on young attorneys whose law-school friendships are tested when they end up working on opposite sides. No premiere date has been set.

"'Raising the Bar' is the sort of smart, highly charged legal drama for which Steven Bochco is known and an ideal fit for our lineup," says Michael Wright, TNT's programming boss. "Steven and the exceptional cast and crew he's assembled have put together an excellent drama, and we're proud to add another talent-rich, entertaining series to the TNT schedule."

The cast features a number of familiar faces, including Bochco regulars Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Currie Graham, both "NYPD Blue" veterans, along with Gloria Reuben ("ER"), J. August Richards ("Angel"), Jane Kaczmarek ("Malcolm in the Middle"), Melissa Sagemiller ("Sleeper Cell"), Jonathan Scarfe ("Into the West") and Teddy Sears ("Studio 60," "CSI: Miami").

Lawyer-author David Feige wrote the pilot script and will executive produce with Bochco, who's doing his first legal drama since "Philly" in 2001-02. Bochco's son Jesse directed the pilot.

Never did like Bocho's "Hill St. Blues" or NYPD that much. Too much soap opera. Did you know however he was partly responsible for the screenplay of the great original sci-fi tree hugger classic "Silent Running." Kudos for that!
