I've posted here about it many times before, but my Lightscribe Drive is great -- my clients love it too. It's not a speed demon in terms of labeling by any means, but if you don't need quantity runs, it's terrific.

Looks interesting. For those not wanting to search, there's one review on xlr8 for the SH-S182D and the guy reports it works under Tiger as-is but doesn't specifically say all types of burning were tried.

Anyone have any other similar deals out there?

I have that drive in my Mac Pro and couldn't be happier with it. Faster and much quieter than the Sony that came with it.

i rarely see the dvd-r lightscribe media on sale, why is that?

Check out Shop4Tech and their deals on lightscribe media. Using Google checkout, I got a bunch of CD-R and DVD-Rs for cheap. Don't remember what it worked out to per disk, but it was not more than 50¢, and no rebate hassles. I might've had a coupon code too…

And I have that same drive in my G5 duallie and it works splendidly!
