Right, Matt; I do not say a person shouldn't be careful, no matter what they use. I always do the software updates Apple recommends, just did one this morning. Have mine set up to automatically remind me once a week if there is an update to do. Works great, and I recommend other Mac users do the same.

Not trying to convince him at all; that's why I used the word "hopeless". His FUD response was to a new Mac user who asked on our organization's site forum about what kind of virus software he should buy. There are over 4,000 of us, all independent contractors spread all over the world, most working bilingually. The new Mac user who asked on the forum is overseas for his work. Ours is not the typical office environment... We all are free to get whatever kind of computer we want - he switched to a Mac, IT guy spread the FUD in the above post.

Not too long ago a PC tech support guy told me, "Macs are OK for people who don't know much about computers."
As I thought about this later, I realized his statement is in fact a tribute; the easier a computer is to use and maintain, the better designed it is! Windows machines are so insecure and trouble-prone that they usually require a knowledgeble administrator just to keep them running.
What a coincidence: that's job security for PC tech support people!

I would think that a virus that targets Macs would get TONS of attention, at least once the newspapers, magazines, and TV stations got their computers running again...you know, those creative types that don't do anything.

You DO realize that about 10% of the Microsoft work force is right now trying to write a 'good' Mac virus to prove the Technical Design God Bill right in his latest rant.

Which means people can spend their time and effort on doing their real jobs not on making their PCs work and on keeping them free of malware.
