CD player in the Honda CRV 2000
#1
Why is that the stock CD player in my aunt's Honda CRV 2000 only plays the original CDs; not the copies? Is there any fix that we can attempt besides purchasing a new CD player? TiA

My roomies first gen (like your Aunts) CRV plays them fine, just like my 2nd gen CRV.
CD Changer? Single disc?

Sounds broke.
Or badly burned discs, just because it plays on the computer doesn't mean it will work in a player.

Have you tried burning the CD's at a slower speed? I've given my mother-in-law a burned CD for a road trip and burned it a 48x speed I think, and it wouldn't play in her Lexus ES330. When I slowed the burn speed to 8x, it played just fine.

If that doesn't work, try using a cd-rw. Some older cd players would read these when they won't read cd-r's.

it's a single disc player. I burnt those copies at whatever the default speed that my G4 DVI 12 inch 1GHz powerbook's superdrive does Big Grin I will try the slower speed.

The CD also takes about 2 minutes before it plays the music. I can neither fast-forward nor back track a song. I have to eject the CD entirely and start playing again every time I shut off and start up the car's engine. Is that also related to the speed as well?

My wife had a 1999 CRV ...and its CD player can be slow to recognize a home-mastered disc....but it rarely refuses to play whatever I throw at it. I remember hitting the wall a few times, but the advice above seems to cover the irregularites I would have mentioned.

Fortunately, newer Hondas (not all) have an auxilary port....better to just jack in your iPod, than mess with discs ANY day.

Short of that, there are other solutions, iTrip, etc...

My 2006 Honda Civic Si is the first car I've ever owned where I can ignore the CD player altogether, and just bring my iPod.

My wife's NEW 2006 CRV (the 1999 CRV was stolen recently) does NOT have aux in port. I was disappointed. I think all new cars should come digital music player (iPod) ready. And odd that Honda would include it on some cars, not others, and price of the car isn't a determining factor.

Could also be the media,
Fuji CDR, blue bottom work the best from my experiences with older CD players.
Default speed is ?(whatever the processor/hard drive can handle) Max burn speed is 24x on iTunes. Try 8x or less.
