But for the $$, wouldn't you rather have a refurb Macbook CoreDuo? Unless you need Classic, I guess, and don't want to install SheepShaver....

Yeah, I wouldn't be buying a G4 these days for any reason really.

The value of the G4 Powerbooks is going to drop like a rock once CS3 starts shipping. The only reason they hung on this long was because CS2 is dog slow on a Intel Mac.

Refurbished by whom? Apple refurbs cost quite a bit more, and I don't think I'd trust a dealer refurb (at least from MicroCenter).

Not if you want the larger screen (15" vs. 13"), a REAL video card (ATI 9700 mobile that can power a 30" display vs. Intel GMA 950) and have apps that are not UB yet (like Adobe Apps, since the UB's weren't announced until last week) and use them on a daily basis to make money.

I don't understand why everyone bags on G4 PowerBooks so bad. They're not going to drop that far as many people are predicting. There are plenty of people out there who won't shell out $1,000 to upgrade to CS3 right away. Sure, PBooks will take a hit, but I'd say no more than 10-15% initially.

And despite many people wanting to compare MacBooks to PBooks, they don't for the reasons I mentioned in my previous post - screen real estate, graphics capabilities and the ability to power a 30" display when needed.

That's why powerbooks are on sale.

They have already dropped about 15% on ebay. I have seen more than one 1.5ghz 15" Albook end under $800. Couple weeks ago they were hitting $950 or $1000 regularly. I think thety will drop another 10% or so before they settle.
