Ipod choices . . .?
#1
I'm looking at used/new ipods on ebay and elsewhere, 5th and 6th (classic) models.

The prices are not that much different except for storage capacity.

Is there ANY reason to pick one generation over the other beyond storage capacity?

I know sometimes the previous model of something can still be the better functional model. I don't really use a MP3 player. I'm upgrading my partner's so we can give the ipod photo to my dad.

Thanks in advance!

I believe the 6G iPods (the classic models) have better screens or at least support the updated UI (cover flow, etc.)

The 5th and 5.5 are the Video iPods, the Classic came out after the Video. That being said, the 5.5 had a higher rez screen than the 5th.
I don't know that I would buy a used one off ebay, Apple usually has them in their refurb area for a decent price with a year warranty. Hope this helps, good luck.

I like the metal face of the Classic, and the screen is great.

If you like the more traditional look, the 5.5 Video has the acrylic face. Both have improved screens, but I think the 6 is better than the 5.5.

As for performance, many people like the scroll feel of the 5.5 better than the 6. I like Cover Flow, but it seems a *lot* of people don't.

For either model, I'd recommend some kind of protection like bodyguardz or invisibleShield, whether or not you get a case.
