Tom Poston, R.I.P.

Tom Poston, a great comedian of the School of Subtle, died today.

I remember him on several sitcoms, as a guest, recurring guest, and regular, but my favorite was The Man on the Street Interviews on The Steve Allen Show.

Tom Poston, Don Knotts, Louie Nye, and I *think* Bert Lehr.

Some funny, funny, guys.

I remember him as a "great" tv actor that provided many enjoyable moments. I bet he was a good guy too since he snagged a great lady in Suzanne Pleshette.

He snagged Suzanne Pleshette? I can't find any reference to that. Where they married?

He sure brought a smile to my face. May he rest in peace.

He was a friend of the owner of the furniture company that I worked for back in the late '50s or early '60s.

I met him at his brownstone in NYC and he was extremely friendly, warm and gracious.

He was definitely a good guy.

From the posted article

"Poston, who was married to Suzanne Pleshette of "The Bob Newhart Show," died Monday night at home after a brief illness, a family representative, Tanner Gibson, said Tuesday. The nature of his illness was not disclosed.

Poston and Pleshette, who had appeared together in the 1959 Broadway play "The Golden Fleecing," had had a brief fling before marrying other people. Both now widowed, they reunited in 2000 and married the following year."

I read recently that Suzanne Pleshette has lung cancer.

I read recently that Suzanne Pleshette has lung cancer.
They caught it early and she went through Chemo, so hopefully that takes care of that.

My ex-college roommate was going to be in town some years back, and left a message with my wife:

"The Peeper is here to see The Mooner"

I said " is in town?"

"How did you know? Anyway, you're supposed to say something else."

So I gave the correct next line.
